FORWARD Project
FORWARD (Focus on Reconciliation, Working to Achieve Real Dialogue), is a regional reconciliation and peacebuilding project, funded by Peaceplus+ with 5 key partners: Leafair Community Association Ltd, EvolveNI, Ealú, Ulidia, and TIDES.
About
The Forward Project objective is to build positive relations by transcending local boundaries in the delivery of our unique programme of activity, and to achieve significant peace and reconciliation outcomes by partnering across communities and borders.

Our Goals
The goal is to improve everyday life for local people and challenge sectarianism and racism wherever it pops up. The group also tackles trauma, especially the kind passed down through generations because of the conflict.
They offer counselling and wellbeing support, and track the difference it makes through regular reports to funders. They work closely with local schools, running free youth programmes and handing out back-to-school packs.
There’s also dedicated youth work, including anti-sectarian talks and personal development programmes. For adults, there’s a men’s shed focused on skills and employability, plus art classes and exhibitions that bring together ex-prisoners, conflict survivors, and the wider public. They also check in on vulnerable folks, like the elderly, through home visits and social or educational activities. The women’s groups partake in art classes, yoga, flower arranging, and meditation.
A lot of this work is shared through social media, local press, and reports to funders. But behind the scenes, Éalú also does quiet, patient work mediating community disputes and building bridges between different groups. That might mean chatting with folks who feel left out of the peace process, or helping communities find a way forward together. You can see the impact in better community relations, fairer outcomes, and a more settled feel locally.
