Empowering Former Combatants and Ex-prisoners Programme
The FORWARD Project is creating opportunities for Former Combatants and Ex-Prisoners to connect, build confidence and take an active role in their communities.
Launching initially with Evolve NI in Magherafelt, the programme will support participants through engagement, empowerment and skills development, before expanding to other partner communities.
Together, we’re creating opportunities to share experiences, build positive connections and support communities moving forward.
About Evolve NI
Evolve NI supports communities to grow, connect and thrive. Evolving from Sperrin Cultural Awareness Association, the organisation builds positive relationships, strengthens communities and supports long-term peacebuilding and sustainable change.
Through partnerships, community-led initiatives and restorative programmes, Evolve helps build trust, reduce division and tackle isolation and disadvantage. It creates accessible opportunities for people to develop skills, confidence and leadership, with a particular focus on young people at risk of marginalisation.
By developing local leaders, strengthening organisations and supporting community hubs, Evolve helps ensure that positive change grows from within communities and continues for the future.
At Evolve NI, positive change begins with understanding.
‘Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn’.
