Dialogue & Outreach Programme
This programme will create opportunities for cross-border and cross-community dialogue, bringing people together to share experiences, build understanding and explore common challenges.
A series of inter- and intra-community dialogue events will take place across participating partner areas throughout the FORWARD project. Alongside these, tailored conflict resolution and reconciliation interventions will provide practical support to address tensions, strengthen relationships and encourage positive change.
The programme will help communities develop the confidence, skills and connections needed to build stronger, more inclusive and peaceful relationships.
About Leafair Community Association
Leafair Community Association was founded in 1996 as a vehicle for the people of Leafair, on the northern outskirts of Derry City, to come together to address a range of social and economic problems the community was facing as it emerged from the conflict.
From the outset Leafair Community Association was outward looking and inclusive and developed good working relationships with other communities around the city and beyond. Leafair Community Association now employs people in various community development roles including welfare advice, youth workers, wellbeing, peace projects, befriending service, men’s shed, and is proud to be the lead partner on the FORWARD project.
Our motto – An Opportunity for Change – informs all our work on behalf of not only the local community, but wider society throughout Ireland. This opportunity for change is present in the FORWARD Project as we build strong and lasting relationships for a new generation of community activists and peace advocates.
