Culture & Conflict In Your Face
This action-learning programme will take participants to locations across Northern Ireland and the Border Counties to hear directly from people whose lives have been shaped by conflict.
By standing in the places where significant events took place and listening to those who experienced them, participants will gain a deeper understanding of different perspectives, lived experiences and the lasting impact of conflict on our communities and society.
About Leafair Community Association
Leafair Community Association was founded in 1996 as a vehicle for the people of Leafair, on the northern outskirts of Derry City, to come together to address a range of social and economic problems the community was facing as it emerged from the conflict.
From the outset Leafair Community Association was outward looking and inclusive and developed good working relationships with other communities around the city and beyond. Leafair Community Association now employs people in various community development roles including welfare advice, youth workers, wellbeing, peace projects, befriending service, men’s shed, and is proud to be the lead partner on the FORWARD project.
Our motto – An Opportunity for Change – informs all our work on behalf of not only the local community, but wider society throughout Ireland. This opportunity for change is present in the FORWARD Project as we build strong and lasting relationships for a new generation of community activists and peace advocates.
